Lauren Town

U14 & U16 Power/Speed/Jumps Assistant Coach

Born and raised in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, Lauren was exposed to track at a young age as her mom was a track coach with St. Mary High School. Originally a competitive Irish dancer and volleyball player, Lauren’s passion for track and field did not start until competing in high school where she was persuaded by her best friend turned training partner to train as a club athlete. During this time, she had the opportunity to attend various provincial championships, tri-province Westerns, the 2016 Saskatchewan Summer Games and the 2017 Jeux des Francophonie. After high school Lauren moved to Edmonton to pursue her Bachelors in Kinesiology majoring in Physical Activity and Health at the University of Alberta. For three years she also competed with the varsity team as a sprinter, coached by Rob Fisher who approached her about coaching. Now Lauren has been assisting Rachel Yee with the U12 and U14 group for two years where she puts her knowledge and experience of sprinting to work. Lauren hopes to spark the same passion for athletics with the young generation of track athletes and pass along many life lessons that the sport has taught her like work ethic, commitment, and sportsmanship. Though school and coaching take up the majority of Lauren’s time, she is also passionate about living an active lifestyle, travelling and the outdoors.
