High School Development Program
Program Description
Are you ready to take your training to the next level? Athletes in this group can expect training that focuses on “learning to compete and “training to compete”.
Whether you are new to track or a long time athlete looking to make nationals, this program will help steer you towards your goals.
Events include:
- Sprints (up to 400m)
- Hurdles (including sprint hurdles and long hurdles)
- Jumps (including high jump, long jump and triple jump)
- Throws (including shot put, javelin, discus, hammer throw and weight throw)
- Mid/long distance (400m and up)
- Combined events

Training Details:
Sept/Oct (base training season):
- Days are dependent on group and event areas
- Locations for Edmonton groups may include Argyll Velodrome, Cloverdale Hill, William Hawrelak Park, Kinsmen Sports Centre and Fox Drive Stairs
- Location for Sherwood Park group include Strathcona Athletic Park
Nov – March (Indoor Season):
- Days are dependent on group and event areas
- Locations may include Kinsmen Sports Centre, Foote Field Dome and the UofA Butterdome
April – July (Outdoor Season)
- Days are dependent on group and event areas
- Locations include Rollie Miles Athletic Park, Foote Field and Strathcona Athletic Park
