Danelle Sheppard

Lead Run, Jump, Throw Coach

U10 & U12

Danelle is originally from St. John’s, Newfoundland but now lives in Sherwood Park. She is in her 4th year of A Bachelor of Kinesiology majoring in Physical Activity and Health. She started figure skating at the age of 2 and was competing provincially and across the country from the age of 8 until 17. She then switched gears and joined track, spending her first year of university as a sprinter for the Golden Bears and Pandas track team before coming to Capital City to train under Rob Fisher. During her first year training with Capital City during the pandemic, she was approached to help Rachel with the U14/U16 group. After that first season, she took on the role as lead coach for the brand new U10/U12 training group, making this Danelle’s third year of coaching and second year with the U10/U12s. Outside of school and track, Danelle loves to spend the summer golfing, hiking, and camping with family. During the winter, she tries to make a few weekend trips to the mountains to snowboard. Danelle hopes to share her passion for physical activity with young athletes, develop their physical literacy, and make the sport of track and field as fun for them as it is for herself.
