Junior Development Program
Program Description
Our U14 and U16 program work to develop athletes to excel and experience the learn-to-train and train-to-train phase of the Long Term Athlete Development Plan.
Within this group, U14 athletes will have the opportunity to learn all events and will continue to compete in a multi-event format. Our U14 athletes can expect to participate in a range of events (including sprints, endurance, throws and jumps) as we work together to discover where their event interest lies.
For U16 athletes, this program is geared towards athletes with an interest in sprints, hurdles and jumps. Our efforts will be focused on continuing to develop athletes in the power/speed realm to achieve individual goals. While athletes have an opportunity to specialize, the program will still continue to encourage the occasional training for other events outside areas of specialization.
This program will support all U14 and U16 athletes who are working towards setting personal bests, competing at the provincial and national level in addition to trying to make Team Alberta (U16 and up only).
